All Pro Dad is a national program with the simple purpose of strengthening relationships between dads and their children.  Tommy Kibler, a Senior Vice President for Merrill Lynch in Anchorage and also a Downtown Rotary Club Director, board member at United Way of Anchorage and proud father of three, started the All Pro Dad chapter at Turnagain Elementary School in 2008.  He saw it as a way to connect with his own kids and to encourage other fathers in the community to form a network where they could share time with their children, pick up parenting tips and support each other.

Since then, Rob DeVassie and Dave Parish have stepped up to join him in leading monthly meetings that the school hosts and teachers promote, with about 80 typically showing up to discuss topics relevant to school-age children and to take part in fun bonding activities.

In addition to the meetings, fathers and kids get together for activities like taking part in the Fur Rondy parade, ski days, ice sculpting and camp outs.   They can also access resources including daily emails, blogs, Top 10 Lists, articles, printable tools, videos and eBooks at

In November, Kibler responded to a request from College Gate Elementary to help launch a chapter and they just held their first meeting.  He’s excited by the idea of spreading the program throughout the city and growing this community partnership that supports young people to build the confidence, connections and resiliency that will help them meet milestones in the classroom and prepare them for success in school and in life.
