JOIN THE CONVERSATION!
United Way of Anchorage and its partners in Anchorage United for Youth are committed to increasing the on-time high school graduation rate to 90 percent by 2020.
Research tells us that supportive adults and a caring community are crucial to the success of our young people. We are asking for community input on ways to provide that support and foster a community of caring.
United Way is currently organizing Community Conversations across Anchorage and invites you to get involved and join the conversation. You might be surprised by what you learn!
What is a Community Conversation?
In a nutshell, Community Conversations are groups of people who get together to talk about the importance of high school graduation and youth success. We believe that by talking with friends and colleagues about this issue, and brainstorming ways to reach out to the young people around you, you will come away with a better understanding of what youth need to be successful – and the inspiration to help give it to them!
Who can hold a Conversation?
Anyone and everyone can host a conversation with any size group, from two people in their living room to 10 people gathering in a coffee shop to 25 people discussing the issues at their organization’s monthly meeting.
How much time will it take?
Conversations can vary in length. We suggest one to two hours, but so what feels right for your group.
